Lorena, Bill Compton's Maker, has been summoned and is currently trying to rekindle whatever fire that was between her and Bill Compton years back. Eric does not believe that it will work, seeing how committed Bill is to his new, modern lifestyle, but it will keep Bill occupied and perhaps be enough to drive a wedge between him and his lovely, little telepath friend.
Sookie.
He meant what he said to Loreena. She is not just human, Sookie. And he does not know what she is. Not yet. But he wants her all the same and Bill is in the way.
So Loreena gets Bill and Eric gets Sookie.
Loreena and Bill. Their relationship is practically incomprehensible to him. As he told Loreena, he has been away from Godric for a long time, but he is loyal. That is why he is here. If Godric called him, he would come. Always.
He tries not to think about why Godric hasn't called him here. What might have taken him. What has happened to him. No.
He stands in the darkness with Isabella, looking down at The Fellowship and their pathetic training camp.
He sees frightened little boys.
She says that they are fanatics and not to be discounted, willing to die for their cause as they are. He says, that he will be more than happy helping them achieve that goal. Dying for their cause.
She has a human too, Isabella. Hugo.
He has gone with Sookie, to make their cover story more believable. They have been gone for more than a day now, which is too long in Eric's opinion, but Isabella is not worried. She would have known if something was wrong, she says.
And there had been a moment, earlier, but nothing now.
She is calm.
He asks her why. Why a human?
She says that they feel everything so much more than vampires do. Perhaps because their lives are so short.
He agrees that they do not keep well. Humans.
He asks her about old age. Disease. Handicaps. She says it is like a research project. Watching him. Her human.
Then she asks about how Bill Compton feels about Eric's interest in Sookie and he tells her, flatly, that he has no interest in Sookie. Or in Bill Compton's opinions. His sole interest is Godric.
Not looking at her.
He can feel the smile in her voice as she agrees.
He ignores her.
They should have been back now. Sookie and Hugo.
