Lafayette hadn't expected any company. His plans were just to toke up and chill out, wrap himself in silk and smoke and the warm colors of the night.
Still, somehow, he knew he wouldn't be alone for long. It's as if the knock on the door was inevitable.
Gathering up his robe around him, he eases himself up off the couch. Trailing the scent of spices and incense, he peers through the slats in the door's window shade and sees a very large, very tall figure clad in black and deep shadows.
He opens the door.
"Well, hel-lo, bossman," he murmurs, a sassy curl to his lips. "What brings you all the way out here tonight?"
