It's quiet out. The night air is cool.

Eric looks even more pale in the darkness. Walking quietly next to Athelstan.

Eric swallows again and teases the wounds with his tongue, encouraging the blood to flow a little quicker.

Athelstan makes a quiet sound, partly but not entirely pained.

Eric loosens his hold a little and begins to caress his fingers. Stroking his knuckles.

He's become used to these odd moments of tenderness, whether they're to ease the way or because Eric forgets himself for a moment, and he smiles just a little.

Eric hums. Little against Athelstan's skin and swallows again.
And once more.

And then he lift his mouth away so he can bite down on his own tongue.
Hard.

It makes a loud, crunching sound in the quiet night.

He dips his head to lick the wounds on Athelstan's wrist closed.
Slowly.

Somewhere in the wood nearby, something is disturbed by the noise and flutters up noisily.

Athelstan watches his wounds seal over, always curious at how fast it happens.

Eric straightens, licking his lips and dripping fangs carefully.
Then he retracts his fangs.

That click is a little less loud.

Athelstan looks up at him, almost friendly.

"I should go..."

[onceaviking]

Eric runs a hand across his mouth.
"Yes," he says, making no sign that he is going to walk back inside.

[athelstanthescribe]

A faint smile.

"You never know what's out here."

Funny how he seems reluctant to be the first to leave, but he does take a step in the direction of the bar.

Eric looks at ham.
Quietly.

His face is still.

Then he says, "You okay?"
It's a practicality.
As always.

[athelstanthescribe]

"I'll be fine", Athelstan assures him. "The usual rules, a good meal and a night's sleep, good as new."

Eric nods.
Then he turns and disappears into the darkness.
