It had started out just fine.
The limo service had shown up on time and after loading Eric's bag of spare clothes and Pam's - well, he assumed she was just bringing clothes and makeup, not the furniture - they'd been taken to Louis Armstrong New Orleans International Airport for their direct flight to Keflavík Airport.

It was an Anubis Flight and as such it was classy, spacious, and catering solely to vampires and their guests.
They'd spent the first hour or so rolling their eyes at a couple further down the aisle, who were busy cooing at each other. She was a vampire and quite a young one at that, he was human and a walking cliche, all tanned muscles and no brainpower to speak off.

And then everything veers off course. Literally.

The speakers clicks on.
"This is your captain speaking. Due to unforeseen events beyond our control, we will have to reroute and make a layover at JFK. "

Eric's eyebrows inches upwards.

"We apologize for the inconvenience. Anubis ground staff will assist you with further arrangements once we touch down." The door to the pantry opens and a line of young, healthy and attractive people files out. The flight staff had wisely decided to move dinner time till right now.

Eric watches them move past.
"I don't fucking believe it," he says. "We are not spending the night in New York."
And that's final.

This had better not be Authority related.

Pam had packed a couple of Eric's tailored sport coats and slacks into her own bags. Just in case. No matter how expensive his comfy jeans and t-shirts are, she will get him into formal wear at least once during this trip. What's the point if you can't show off your own Maker?

The flight was going smoothly enough at first. If all went well, they should have arrived in Iceland well before sunrise, with enough time to check in, look around, and maybe get a pre-dawn snack. Pam was looking forward to it.

But no.

No, of course not.

Nothing good ever comes after the phrase, "This is your captain speaking."

Except maybe...

Pam looks over at Eric. He's not happy. He hates New York.

"Maybe the layover won't be that long?"

She doesn't sound too disappointed. She loves New York.

Pam doesn't pout (no, really, she never does, unless it's ironically). But she's pretty sure that Eric is pretty sure that he'll be getting them both out of JFK without staying over.

Oh, well.

She approves of his choice of entree. Looking over the available selection, she waves her fingers at a young woman with dark, almond-shaped eyes and a stylish razor-cut bob that reveals a lot of neck.

Pam turns to Eric.

"How do you say bon apetit in Icelandic?" she quips.

Well, it's airplane food.

Pam pulls out the low lap tray instead, and the woman daintily perches on it and makes herself comfortable. As she leans in close, Pam cups the back of her neck and drops fang.

When she bites her and begins to drink, she exhales a purring hum.

It's actually been a while since she and Eric ate together.

Pam's other hand rests on the woman's thigh, lightly kneading and stroking. Sometimes one can't help a little innocent fondling, especially if one's meal doesn't mind.

As always, Pam is a neat eater. Only a fine trickle of blood runs down the woman's throat toward her low-cut uniform.

Pam finishes up, licking her fangs and withdrawing them with a click. As her meal gets up to leave, a flight attendant comes around with a basket of warm, damp towels.

"Moist towelette?" she offers.

Pam takes two, one for herself and one for Eric, who probably doesn't think he needs one.

"They'd have to draw up a whole new contract for that," Pam remarks as she reaches over to wipe the tiny streak of red off his forehead with a towel before handing the warm cloth to him.

"How did yours taste?"

She shrugs.

"Same. God, I can't wait till we're really on our way. Like finally over-the-Atlantic on our way."

She dabs at the corners of her mouth with the towel.

She leans her head back as well, and slants him a look.

"Yeah. Why? You like it," she murmurs with a wry smile, answering her own question.

She turns her head a little.

"You did?" she says, somewhat incredulous and amused. "Was that supposed to be a surprise?"

She would almost say it's sweet.

He did used to give her presents. They made her feel special, pampered, that he would do anything for her. Not that that feeling has ever diminished -- just that some things have changed.

"Oh," she says with a little smile. "Well, do I get to see it now, or later?"

Her smile widens, the look in her eyes growing sly.

"You always know how to talk to a girl."

She only smirks at that, and she glances away to buckle her seatbelt.

The lights of New York City twinkle enticingly outside the window as the plane circles over the bridges and skyscrapers. Pam watches with just a bit of longing.

All that shopping...

Pam lowers her sunglasses as she and Eric stride through the terminal.

Some humans turn to watch them, uncertain if they're celebrities or not.

At the Anubis desk, Pam impatiently stands at Eric's elbow, designer carry-on bag at her side.

Pam adjusts her sunglasses and shifts her weight onto her other hip.

"I swear to god," she mutters irritably as she glances around the terminal, "if I get the bleeds with all these humans around, I will fucking bite someone."

"Coach?" Pam snaps, cutting him off.

"Are you fucking kidding me? Do you even see this man?" She gestures at Eric. "You honestly think he can fit in an economy class seat?"

This is her way of thinking of others-- well, Eric-- before herself.

"Oh, hell no."

And that's all Pam has to say about that.

Pam fluffs up her hair. That will do nicely, she supposes.

She does admire Eric's persistence. And influence.

There will be no blood shed tonight.

Pam wouldn't really bite anyone here anyway. They're all just a bunch of fucking tourists from the middle of nowhere.

She slips her dainty hand into the crook of his arm, brawny even through the sleeve of his jacket, and proceeds to ignore everyone else in the entire room.

"Lets go."
