Eric's room is cool and dark.

Once they are inside, Eric turns on the bedside lights and pulls off his t-shirt, dropping it on the floor.

There's a bottle of brandy on the small table and the bedding is Egyptian cotton, smooth and silky.

Eric doesn't answer, but he does lean in to kiss him again, closing his eyes.

(He can do that if he wants to. And he wants to. And he doesn't want to think about why).

That's...actually...sweet.

Or at least it seems to be.

The boy blushes, smiling faintly against Eric's cool lips.

He can smell his blood rise in his cheeks.

He breaks the kiss again.
"You should go clean up," he says.

"All right," he says in a tiny whisper, just a faint breath of air against Eric's lips, before letting go of his arm and moving away. He sits up (the blood on the sheets and on his legs startles him a little), eases himself to the edge of the bed, and gets to his feet.

As he pads barefoot and naked like a little wood sprite toward the bathroom, he glances over his shoulder at Eric. Just to see if he's going to clean up, too.

And so he will catch Eric, sitting pensively (forlorn), looking down at his hands.

And then he gets up and that look is gone as if it hadn't even been there to begin with.

The boy quickly glances away and turns on the light in the bathroom, marveling at the shininess of everything.

But really, he's still thinking of the look on Eric's face.

Eric enters and the bathroom seems to shrink, just a little.

He turns the water on, adjusting the temperature down a bit, and steps under the spray.

He was just waiting politely for Eric to go first.

Just as politely, he follows him into the shower. The water is comfortably hot (he doesn't realize that Eric lowered the temperature), and he closes his eyes and tips his head back for a moment to relish the sensation of the spray on his skin. A shower like this is such a luxury.

A little while passes.
Then Eric reaches for the bodywash, saying,"We used to bathe in lakes. And streams."

Showers are a luxury.
That's why he likes them.

The boy politely waits his turn to use the strange liquid soap.

"But it must have been terribly cold," he remarks.

He's no stranger to cold baths. They're the worst in the winter.

[onceaviking]

"It was," Eric says, passing him the bottle.

"In winter, you had to break the ice first."
Winter.
The worst.

He washes thoroughly, running his large hands down his chest and sides, getting rid of all the stains.

He takes the bottle with a small smile and nod in thanks, and squeezes out a generous amount of the fragrant stuff.

"Ice??" he says. "Oh, that's too much. Wouldn't you get-- hypothermia?"

He read about it in a magazine.

"Only if you stay submerged too long," Eric replies a he picks up the shampoo and turns his attention to his hair.

The boy washes himself with slow, almost thoughtful movements. Even this type of soap seems like a luxury and he wants to savor it.

"That still sounds dangerous," he says. "But I suppose it was necessary. I never had a proper hot bath until a lady took me off the streets to live with her in a brothel."

Eric closes his eyes and tips his head back, letting the water hits his face, as he rinses.

Then he says, "I had something like this installed at home, as soon as it hit the market."

He looks up at Eric through the steam and water. He's so beautiful.

"There is nothing like this in my time," he says a bit wistfully.

There is nothing like Eric in his time either.

"Or this," he adds, as he helps himself to the shampoo.

"I remember," Eric murmurs, running his hands down his face, wiping the after away.

[i_am_your_host]

The boy shuts his eyes as he lathers up his hair, until it looks like he's wearing a crown of suds. He may have used a little too much shampoo. But then again, indulgence.

"Where were you? In 1917, I mean. Or around then."

The soap stings his eyes so he keeps them closed as he rinses.

"The States. My Progeny was still a very young vampire back then."

He lathers up again.

(It says rinse and repeat).

He wipes the water from his face and eyes only to find that Eric is lathering up again. He doesn't mind this view at all.

"Your Progeny...?" he says, remembering the word Eric had used to describe the vampire he had made. "Oh, yes... What is it like to raise a vampire child?"

[onceaviking]

Eric is silent.

Then he says, "It is a great fulfilment, becoming a Maker. And a great responsibility. "

Saying something like that makes Eric sound very old and wise.

"So you chose your Progeny?" he asks, because Eric doesn't seem to be the type to carelessly make random vampires left and right.

[onceaviking]

Eric smiles. Just a little.

"Not like that. Not at first. I - wanted her. And once I'd gotten her, she - convinced me that she would make a fine vsmpire."

More or less.

[i_am_your_host]

The boy sees the faint smile, even hears it in his voice.

"And did she make a fine vampire?"

[onceaviking]

This time the smile is easily visible.
"She is. She is lazy, but loyal. And ruthless."

High praise apparently.
