A promise fulfilled

Eric unlocks the door - and locks it behind them once they are inside.

The room looks much as it did the last time, Emcee was there. A framed picture of a moonlit ruin has been added to one of the walls and there is a stack of file folders on the desk as well as a couple of books.

The bed is made and the decanter on the small table seems to have been refilled.

Eric walks inside, the way you do when you own a place, leaving his flip flops by the door, and unzipping his track suit top.

He turns to look at Emcee, his gaze heavy and measuring.

The wine goes straight to his head. As it should.

And now he has to turn off the light in a room that will be pitch-black, and which also contains a vampire, with whom he going to sleep in the same bed. Honestly. He still has no idea how it got to this point. Really. What is his life.

But thoughts like these are what the wine is for.

And so he shuts off the light.

It's a little disconcerting how well he already knows how to navigate Eric's room in the dark.

"I will most likely wake up perhaps an hour or two before you," he says, as he settles onto the bed. Above the covers.

"Yes," Eric murmurs. Drowsily.

"Shut the door behind you when you leave. "

He should question Emcee's desire to sleep here. He ought certainly question his own lack of concern about him sleeping here.

But not now.

Another deep, conscious breath.

"Of course."

He closes his eyes and curls up onto his side, with his back to Eric.

Stupid? No, certainly not.

I dream that he is right there. Next to me. And then I wake up.

Like the girl felt for Godric, he just doesn't want Eric to be alone.
