The night air is heavy with the perfume of flowers. And incense.
Lafayette's house lies in the dark like an exotic lantern, lit from within in red and gold and purple. The darkness cradles the house like the arms of a lover, luring it deeper and deeper into night.
Everything's still and dark. Waiting.
Then there are footsteps in the gravel.
Then there's a knock on the door. A quick rap-rap sound.
Then there is silence.

Date: 2014-09-27 07:05 am (UTC)--and Eric isn't there anymore.
Lafayette abruptly sits up with a gasp, his heart racing.
He's fully clothed, in his silk robe, sprawled on the sofa. He clutches at his throat, feeling for blood or open wounds. Nope, he ain't bleeding.
"What the fuck--"
It was just dream. One of those dreams, thanks to having ingested Eric's blood. Praise the day when it wears off-- if ever.
He takes a bracing breath or three, leaning forward with his face in his hands. He can't deal with this shit. He just can't.
And some asshole is still leaning on their goddamned car horn!
With an annoyed huff, he gets up and goes to the front door, stepping outside onto the porch. Someone is parked in a convertible at the foot of the hill. As Lafayette's eyes adjust to the dimness, he recognizes who it is.
