onceaviking | Season Four

She opens the door behind her and walk him back inside with her, still kissing him.

She is kissing him.

Just one kiss and he promised her that he would be happy. And now they are raining down on him like the sweetest dew and she is moving back toward the couch (kicking off her slippers on the way) and his hand is touching the soft fabric of her dress and - yes. Yes he is happy.

They settle on the couch and he touches her, almost hesitantly.
Sookie is far more resolute, as she grabs hold of the hem of his top and pulls it off him, grinning a little.

It's the sweetest thing he has ever seen.

Her dress goes too and she lies there in her underwear, all beautiful and radiant and warm and alive.

He leans down and kisses her rib cage.
Then her belly.

Sookie lets her head fall back and moans -

It's his turn to snap.
"I don't want it!"

He half turns away from her.
"The things I've done -"
What she has told him. What Sookie has told him. Seeing the way her friend reacted.

"Uhm. I don't wanna remember."

He doesn't want to be that person. That vampire.

The blood tears well in her eyes.

"You don't know what you're sayin'."

Pam sniffles, and sobs, and breaks down again. She steps back into her corner, sinking to the floor.

"So that's it. You're giving up."

The vampire she thought he was would never give up on himself.

He shakes his head.
"I'm - changing. We can do that. Like - like Godric did."

Sookie had told him about that. When he lay in her bed, crying because of a dream. A memory he couldn't remember.

Pam looks up at him.

"Godric? You remember him now?"

Maybe there's still a chance?

"And changing into what? Into who?"

"Eric. Has there been anyone, anyone, who even remotely feels the same way I do. Who wants you to get your memories back."

Because if there isn't, then yeah, he's been fucking brainwashed.

She empathizes with Emcee.

What the fuck.

But hey, it sucks to be forgotten.

She figures by now that the little fangbanger has a crush on Eric, and that's natural for a human like him. But the one other person who wants the old Eric back is the least likely to have any influence on him.

"Don't you feel bad about that?" she asks, testing his newfound 'goodness.'

"So, what, is it only Sookie forever now? Has she even let you take her clothes off?"

He manages to look embarrassed and giddily happy at the same time.

"We were - kissing when they came to arrest me."

Then his face falls.

"I think that really upset the King."

Pam stares at him.

"You do know that Sookie used to be his, don't you?"

He looks at her, wide-eyed.

"She did? He did seem - upset."

"I bet he was."

She huffs a harsh sigh, bowing her head. "Well, shit. That vindictive little asshole has surely got it in for you now. And it's my fault that he found you."

He looks at her. Then he asks,"Did he hurt you?"

He might have. He did seem a bit - rash.
(That's not treacherous talk, right?)

"No," she sighs, "not really. He just got super-pissed and bared his fangs at me. Threatened me. Once he knew, I was more afraid for you. For what the Authority would do...to the both of us, now. I lied to Bill from the beginning to protect you. I failed you, Eric. I'm sorry."

"Don't -" he says and squats down on the floor next to her.

"You just tried to protect me. They shouldn't punish you for tbat. Not when I'm the threat. "

"Yeah, well, there's nothing either of us can do about it now," she mumbles, turning her blood-streaked face away from him.

"Besides, how are you the threat? You don't even want to hurt anyone."

"But if the witches could take all my memories who knows what else they can do?"

His voice is quiet.
Soft.

"It's true that I don't want to hurt anyone. But I have. Even after - I killed Sookie's fairy godmother."

Pam would smile at the fact that Eric killed Sookie's fairy godmother. She really would. She wants to. Except her face would fall off.

But Eric is unfortunately right about being under the witches' spell. Those in Marnie's circle were still free. They still might be able to do something to him, or Bill, or any other vampire they come across.

"Did you kill her by accident?" she asks about the fairy, because she has to admit, accidental killings can be problematic. Much better if they can be justified with intent, like revenge or something.
