Season Four

She opens the door behind her and walk him back inside with her, still kissing him.

She is kissing him.

Just one kiss and he promised her that he would be happy. And now they are raining down on him like the sweetest dew and she is moving back toward the couch (kicking off her slippers on the way) and his hand is touching the soft fabric of her dress and - yes. Yes he is happy.

They settle on the couch and he touches her, almost hesitantly.
Sookie is far more resolute, as she grabs hold of the hem of his top and pulls it off him, grinning a little.

It's the sweetest thing he has ever seen.

Her dress goes too and she lies there in her underwear, all beautiful and radiant and warm and alive.

He leans down and kisses her rib cage.
Then her belly.

Sookie lets her head fall back and moans -

Eric turns and sees the pile of blankets in the corner.
"Pam?"

It sounds like her voice.

[lazy_but_loyal]

She makes a little sobbing sound in place of an affirmative.

"Bill found you because of me," she sniffles.

"I fucked up royally. I'm sorry."

What would the real Eric do? Release her? The worst punishment she can think of.

[onceaviking]

This Eric asks, "Why are you hiding under there?"
Seemingly disinterested in punishing her at all.

[lazy_but_loyal]

"You know why I'm hiding," she mumbles miserably. "'Cause I don't want you to see me like this."

Maybe she's gotten better since the last time Eric saw her? Maybe she's gotten worse?

[onceaviking]

And no matter what it can't be that bad, right?

"Take it off," he says.

He's thought about Pam.
About not remembering her. How it must feel. Being forgotten.

He can at least put in and effort. Even if she is fucking scary.

[lazy_but_loyal]

"No," she says like a petulant child.

[onceaviking]

"Sookie told me I was your Maker," he says.
As did Emcee and Jay. And Pam herself.

"I command you."

Part of him doesn't think it'll work.

[lazy_but_loyal]

Eric is only saying the words. The command doesn't come from within him, doesn't reach into her, doesn't compel her like it should. The old Eric rarely ever had to command her to do anything but now she misses that feeling more than ever.

She flings the blanket off her head anyway.

And yep, her face has gotten worse.

There are also bright red blotches of blood under her eyes because she's been crying.

It's not a good look.

He stares at her sagging features. The rotten flesh. The exposed bit of bone high up on her cheek.

The tear stains.

"Oh," he says. Quietly.

[lazy_but_loyal]

She doesn't want his boyish, wide-eyed sympathy.

"The witch, Lafayette, his boyfriend, and his skank of a cousin, they all did this to me."

They were all part of the witch's circle; they will all pay.

[onceaviking]

Eric blinks, trying to keep up.

"Who's Lafayette?" he asks, still boyishly wide-eyed and sympathetic.

[lazy_but_loyal]

It's no use trying to inspire revenge in him, is it?

"Forget it," she sighs, dejectedly slumping back against the wall.

"I can feel myself rotting. I don't know how much time I have left."

This is something she's had to come to terms with in a very short time. At the rate she's decaying, it's as if actual death is catching up with her.

[onceaviking]

He worries his bottom lip with his teeth.
It must awful, feeling yourself fall apart like that.

Poor Pam.
Even if she is fucking scary.

He leans in a little and asks, voice low and concerned, "Are you afraid?"

[lazy_but_loyal]

"Fuck you," she half snaps, half sobs.

It takes a lot for Pam to want to curse Eric out.

"Pieces of me are falling off. I'm pissed. I am not gonna die like this. We need to get out of here and get the bitches who did this to us!"

[onceaviking]

He feels for her, he really does, but -
"No."

He shakes his head. "No. King Bill thinks we are a danger to our kind."

[lazy_but_loyal]

"Let me tell you a little something about King Bill," she says, her voice on edge. "He's a self-loathing, power-hungry, pompous little dork. And you hate his guts."

[onceaviking]

His eyes widen.

"That is treason," he whispers with an urgent note in his voice.

Stop with the treason, Pam.

[lazy_but_loyal]

Fuck treason!

"Eric, snap the fuck out of it! You have no loyalty to Bill Compton!"

She doesn't care who hears her.

She gets up and leans on the bed, coming closer to Eric, looking him in the eyes.

"You are a Viking vampire god and you bow to no one. If someone crosses you, you rip out their liver with one fang."

[onceaviking]

He inches away from her.

"No," he says. It sounds feeble.

[lazy_but_loyal]

She showed him Fangtasia. She showed him the dungeon. She told him everything she could about who he is.

And yet...it means nothing to him.

She starts to feel helpless again.

"I have been with you over a hundred years," she says, imploring him. "We've traveled the world together, killin', and fuckin', and laughin'..."

Those were good times, Eric, the best of times.

[onceaviking]

Like - with her?

All three things?

"I don't remember that," he says, defensively.

[lazy_but_loyal]

Sometimes all three things simultaneously.

"Oh, fuckin' hell," she huffs, on the verge of tears again. "You will. We'll get your life back, I swear."

[onceaviking]

It's his turn to snap.
"I don't want it!"

He half turns away from her.
"The things I've done -"
What she has told him. What Sookie has told him. Seeing the way her friend reacted.

"Uhm. I don't wanna remember."

He doesn't want to be that person. That vampire.

[lazy_but_loyal]

It cuts like a knife. Burns like silver. Breaks her heart.

The blood tears well in her eyes.

"You don't know what you're sayin'."

Please, Eric, why won't you remember?

"I am not the vampire you think I am," he says. Insistently.

He can change.
